Teenpreneur 2021

“TeenPreneur” was the name of the entrepreneurial activity held last June 18, 21-23, 2021 with a theme, “Engaging future entrepreneurs in strategic selling.”  The objective of the event was to: engage students in the application of entrepreneurial concepts which will help them acquire life-long learning skills; exercise personal entrepreneurial competencies; and imbibe to the students strategic thinking, creative problem solving and camaraderie.

The participants were grade 7-8 and 12. Each class was divided in to groups. For the grade 7 students, there were 4 groups and the products they were selling are the following: AJE Company (Yema balls), Glacial corporation (Ice cream), MAJA Sweets N’ Jams (Banana Jam), and Berry Venue (strawberry jam).  For the grade 8 students, there were 3 groups: Pipekel (atsara), Kechamp (ketchup), and Kimchiverse (kimchi). Lastly, the grade 12 students, there were 2 groups: Pikamunch (classic Filipino snacks or chicha) and Donut Queen (doughnuts).

                It was an audacious idea be in fact that we are in the midst of a crisis. While there are many risks, strategy and determination outweigh it. Opportunities do not always appear in the most favorable times. Some of the successful entrepreneurs such as Henry Sy (SM) and Mariano Que (Mercury drug) started their business during World War II which is an unlikely situation. But an entrepreneur, always find ways to turn threats into opportunities and weaknesses to strengths.

                Mary Kay Ash, the founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics, said, “Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.”

Our students were able to utilize modern technologies, strategies, online tools and platforms to sell and promote their product. They worked and solved problems as a team. Indeed, it was a success and all their products were sold out.
