1st Virtual Career And Guidance Fair

TFCA held its first 2-day virtual Career and Guidance Fair last March 12 and 19, 2021 via Google Meet. Ms. Aziel Tecson, this year’s career orientation chairman headed the event. Several TFCA alumni were invited to speak with the Grade-9 to Grade 12 students.

On the first day, Mrs. Joy Elli-Ang, Ms. Joey Remetio, Mr. Aaron Villaluz, Dr. Solomon Claridades, and Ms. Bea Azurin gave the talk. Mrs. Ang spoke about HR responsibilities and how it is working in a multi-national company, she stressed the importance of having to speak English in the corporate world and that TFCA trained her well when was a student.

Ms. Remetio gave a talk on entrepreneurship, about the importance of creating products and services that are sustainable, useful and beautiful. She mentioned that there is no “perfect job” and that it depends on what your passion will be. She also stressed that passion and purpose are important, but so is reality. Mr. Aaron Villaluz gave the students a glimpse of how it is to be in the gaming industry. What is the best school to enrol in, and what the future of the gaming industry will be like. Dr. Claridades explained to the student the process of how to be a doctor – the discipline that it requires, the perseverance needed, and the satisfaction that you get whenever you help a patient to recover from their sickness. Lastly for day 1, Nurse Bea spoke about the nursing course, about how important the responsibilities of nurses are and the misconceptions people have about nurses. She also mentioned about the advantages of being able to speak good English during college.


Day 2 also featured several alumni namely Mr. Mikko Rivera, Ms. Courtney Castro, Mrs. Blair Ong-Chan, Ms. Myara Poliarco and Mr. Lance Velasco. Mr. Rivera spoke on how it is to be in the IT industry, he featured some of his finished work as a web developer and also showcased some projects as a music artist. He mentioned that TFCA has helped him shape his character because the teachers were very understanding and caring.

Ms. Castro gave a talk on the importance of having good mentors in choosing your career, about what your place is in this world. She mentioned how importance it is for you to be able to find what your strengths and abilities are, in order to decide which career to take. She also spoke about the importance of realizing opportunities that come your way and seizing them. She also shared what it’s like to be a child behaviour analyst. Mrs. Blair Ong-Chan emphasized the importance of putting God first in everything that you do. She mentioned about how it is running Pretty Looks. Mrs. Chan talked about how important it is to listen to your parents’ advise because they know more than you especially in terms of experience. She mentioned about having no substitute for hard work and perseverance, and looking after people’s welfare in doing business. She also stressed that presenting yourselves properly and beautifully is a plus factor in doing business especially in dealing with celebrities.

Ms. Myara Poliarco focused on college life, what it’s like in Ateneo, how college is very different from high-school, and that making wise use of your time is of utmost importance. She also shared some study habits that would be very useful for students when they graduate high-school and enter college. She also answered questions about politics, and because of the students’ curiosity, the need for having another day for a special talk about it, might be set. Lastly, Mr. Lance Velasco shared about how it is working in a Non-Government Organization (NGO). He talked about what they do in that organization and the misconceptions people have about it. He mentioned about how rewarding it is whenever they support a very good cause and whenever they help a lot of people through it.

Various colleges and universities were also invited to market their respective school to the TFCA students. Present in this year’s Carrer Orientation were the following schools: World City Colleges, Trinity University of Asia, Enderun, CIIT, Centro Escolar University, National Teachers College, and National University.

The purpose of having this event is for students to have a glimpse of what it’s like in various fields of employment. It also helps them choose what courses to take and which school to enrol in, to prepare them in their chosen field.
