TFCA Teachers’ Training with Robotics
TFCA in partnership with IONinja recently held a 2-day robotics training seminar for selected teachers. Last June 1, Mr. Michael Agapay, Ms. Domilanie Oliquino, Ms. Emalyn Efa of the SPED Department together with Ms. Joy Casis, Mr. Albert Bernardo, Mr. Dexter Deloso and Ptr. Adrian Jayobo underwent a robotics training seminar with Mr. Arnel Monillas in the newly re-organized TFCA Computer Laboratory. The teachers were introduced to LEGO Mindstorm.
The Lego Mindstorms series of kits contain software and hardware to create customizable, programmable robots.
They include an intelligent brick computer that controls the system, a set of modular sensors and motors, and Lego parts from the Technic line to create the mechanical systems.
The TFCA teachers were taught how to assemble basic constructions of the Lego Mindstorm kits and have them programmed using the Mindstorm software installed in the computer units of the computer laboratory.
They were able to execute basic commands like enabling the robots to move in a given direction and perform various movements upon command.
TFCA will be integrating robotics classes within the computer subjects of the students from Preschool to Senior High School starting this school year 2017 – 2018.
