Grade 7 Students’ Feeding Program in Bgy. Salapan
In connection with this year’s Nutrition Month theme, “First 1000 Days ni Baby Pahalagahan para sa Malusog na Kinabukasan,” the Grade 7 students of Tabernacle of Faith Christian Academy in partnership with the Bgy. Salapan Health Workers, conducted a feeding program last July 22, 2016 in the Bgy. Salapan Puericultural Center.
The Bgy. Salapan Health Workers, together with the mothers of the children, welcomed the Grade 7 students who were supervised by their adviser, Mrs. Ezra Nicomedes and the School Nurse Mrs. Kae Ordiz.
Kagawad Dr. Rose Milaor also attended the feeding program and gave the welcoming remarks in the Puericultural Center. She also gave thanks to TFCA for partnering with the Barangay with their health projects. Kagawad Milaor also mentioned that her daughter, Rose Ann Milaor was an alumnus of TFCA.
The TFCA Grade 7 students started the program with a prayer which was followed by some songs, and Bible stories to engage the children and while waiting for the food to arrive.
With the help of the Grade 9 students who were in charge in preparing the food, the Grade 7 pupils reached out to the children by feeding them with “Sopas.” Each student reached out to one child. They served as the big “ate” or big “kuya” for that day.
There were around 30 kids who were fed that morning. Some of them were about to go to school, but decided to go to the feeding program first to have breakfast.
After the feeding program, the mothers and the health workers gave their thanks to the TFCA students for a successful feeding program.
