Last August 26, 2016, Tabernacle of Faith Christian Academy celebrated Buwan ng Wika with the theme: “Filipino: Wika ng Karunungan.” The program started on time (9am), with Ms. Myara Poliarco leading the Invocation which was proceeded by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem.

Selected TFCA teachers in their Filipino costumes opened up the program with a folk-dance number much to the delight of the audience.

After the dance number, the principal, Mr. Andrew Tan welcomed the parents and guests and gave his opening remarks.

The preschool students charmed the audience with their “Katutubong Sayaw” to the tune of “Paru-parong Bukid” and “Itik-Itik,” each of them of course dressed in their Filipino-costumes.

The students from Grade 1 to Grade 3 performed their “Sabayang Bigkas” entitled “Wikang-Pambansa.”

The Grades 4 to 6 pupils danced their “Etnikong-Sayaw.” The Grade 4 performed “Binanog” (from Visayas), The Grade 5 performed “Singkil” (from Mindanao), The Grade 6 performed “Ragragsakan” (from Luzon). All three islands of the Philippines were well-represented in those dances.

The audience were also treated with a spoken poetry, performed by the winners of the Bukambibig competition namely Mr. Eldwyn Sevilla and Ms. Alia Aguilar.

The highlight of the program were the numbers of the Grade 7 – 10 students, with each level performing their own InterSayAwit (Inpretasyon ng Sayaw at Awit), which left the audience in awe of the creativity of the students’ performances.

After the dance numbers, Mrs. Chanel Alava gave the closing remarks and congratulated the students and their teachers for a job well done even if they were only given about a week to prepare for their performances.

After the closing remarks, Ptr. Adrian Jayobo, the CLVF teacher, closed the program with a prayer.

When the Buwan ng Wika program ended, the students were treated with some Filipino games prepared by their teachers.

Mrs. Grace Dayrit was the Emcee and the chairman of the 2016 Buwan ng Wika celebration.
